HOW CERTIFICATION WORKS
The ISO Certification Process
Step by Step
A transparent, predictable pathway from initial clause scoping to independent audit and public register listing. We eliminate audit guesswork with fixed timelines and structured evidence assembly.
THE 8-STAGE JOURNEY
From Initial Inquiry to Published Certification
Every phase is coordinated to respect your daily operations, avoiding disruption while preparing robust audit trails.
1. Enquiry & Technical Fit Check
You share your target standard, industry sector, operational sites, and commercial drivers (such as an enterprise RFP or vendor requirement). Our technical team verifies whether the requested standard satisfies your customer’s expectations, and clarifies whether integrated audits (e.g. ISO 9001 + 27001) apply.
2. Scoping & Written Proposal
We calculate required audit mandays using standard international IAF allocation tables based on your employee count, site complexity, and operational risk. You receive a comprehensive written scope detailing coordination deliverables, certification body audit days, and a transparent fixed fee.
3. Clause-by-Clause Gap Assessment
A senior coordinator evaluates your existing policies, workflows, software tools, and operational controls against every clause of the target standard. You receive an actionable prioritized gap report highlighting missing records, unformalized procedures, and an implementation schedule.
4. System Implementation & Evidence Assembly
We help you draft required documented information — tailored specifically to your workflows rather than bloated generic templates. Risk registers, operational policies, competence logs, calibration/monitoring logs, and supplier review records are put into real operation.
5. Internal Audit & Management Review
Independent certification bodies require evidence of at least one complete internal audit cycle and a formal management review meeting before Stage 1 can take place. We guide your internal audit, log objective observations, and document executive review minutes.
6. Stage 1 Readiness Audit (Certification Body)
The authorized certification body evaluates your documented management system, scope definition, and operational readiness. Minor documentation gaps identified here are completely normal; we assist you in addressing any observations before Stage 2 is scheduled.
7. Stage 2 Implementation Audit
Lead auditors assess operational evidence on-site or via secure remote video/cloud sampling. They interview process owners, evaluate records, and confirm that the management system is functioning effectively across your organization.
8. Certification Decision & Public Register Listing
Upon positive recommendation and closure of any minor nonconformities, the certification body renders the official certification decision. Your certificate is formally issued, and Northbridge registers the certificate in our public verification database complete with QR lookup.
AUDIT METHODOLOGIES
Remote, On-Site & Hybrid Assessments
Depending on your industry risk profile and physical operations, audits are structured to minimize logistical overhead.
Remote ICT Audits
Ideal for SaaS, cloud engineering, financial services, and consultancy organizations without heavy manufacturing plant. Conducted via encrypted video conference, screen-sharing of cloud infrastructure, and electronic document exchange.
Common for ISO 27001 & ISO 9001 (Tech)On-Site Physical Audits
Required for food processing plants, construction sites, manufacturing floors, and hazardous chemical storage where physical equipment, line inspections, PPE compliance, and plant layout must be directly audited by lead assessors.
Common for ISO 22000, 45001 & 14001THE 3-YEAR CERTIFICATION CYCLE
Annual Surveillance & Recertification
ISO certificates operate on an internationally recognized 3-year validity cycle. To maintain active status in the public register:
