Frequently Asked Questions
Key considerations on timelines, documentation, and audits for ISO 9001.
How long does ISO 9001 certification take?
For a single-site organization with some existing documentation, Stage 1 is typically four to eight weeks after kickoff. Stage 2 follows once any Stage 1 findings are closed.
Do we need a quality manual?
The 2015 revision does not require one by name, but it does require documented information to support the system. We keep documentation proportional to the size of the business.
How long is the certificate valid?
Three years, subject to surveillance audits at roughly 12 and 24 months and a recertification audit before expiry.
Can ISO 9001 be combined with ISO 14001 or ISO 45001?
Yes. The high-level structure is shared, so integrated audits are common and usually reduce total audit days.
